5A State XC (3 Miles) 00:15:49, Place overall: 15 | | There are a lot of different takes you can take on my state race this year. In many ways it was a good race as I didnt completely die and I was able to finish relativly high in the rankings, plus the team took second place which was excilerating in it self. However there were a number of things that I wish I would have done bettter. For example I wish I would have pushed myself harder the last 800 of the second mile and the first 800 of the last mile and started my kick much sooner than I did. I started it way too late, when I hit the blue tape, and that was really dumn of me, I had more in me to give to that kick that I could have utilized by starting my kick earlier and therefor hopefully passing maybe a few more guys or at least getting me closer to my goal time for the race which was a 15:40. I chose a 15:40 because according to the genius of Papa Heaps he guessed that that time would put me in the top 10, my other goal for the race which I once again didnt accomplish. Overall there were many areas in which I could improve my race and that I'm looking to impliment come Regionals, but I'm still really happy with what the team did and what we were able to accomplish together at this race.

| | Nice easy run with the boys, well until we hit a mile and everyone else had to turn back because they have such low mileage rn, but luckily Ryan was able to go with me so we did an out and back that went up kind of around his house. Would have run with Connor too, but he wanted to go faster than I did and he said, "Today is one of those days that you can just think about life". So thats cool, hopefully he found his meaning in life. Ryan and I had a cool talk during the run, talked about patriarchal blessings, he's a good guy. Afterwards we had a good Abb session and then crashed Jamies room for a couple of hours and planned the 5K track race under the lights, that will be a lot of fun, I'm glad Connor had that idea. My legs still feel a little off, but they always do coming off a taper so no worries.

| | Went an easy 7 with Ryan and Chicken Nug today, slowly building back up to normal milage. Did a warm up mile at 7:58 pace and then 6 at 7:13 pace. My legs still feel a little heavy and tired, but im starting to think its just because they havent really done anything for awhile

| | Surprisingly we only did an easy run again today. I was expecting something more like a speed workout today, but I guess we are saving that tomorrow. I really excited to do speed again because my legs and my body just feel so tired, but its a lazy tired where I just don't want to do anything and it's bad. Speed will help get me back into the swing of things.

| | Today the speed work out finaly commenced. We started off with an easy warm up(7:47) around the track and then we all got on the line as a team and started things up. The workout was basically a 4 mile tempo that started slower and ended faster than our usual tempo runs which were typically ran at 5:20-5:45ish pace during the summer. We did the first mile on the track and it was only at 6 minute pace. Then we just rolled into the next mile off the track and went a mile out to a cone that Jamie had set up(I had her being a little short so I overshot the cone) and on that second mile I got a 5:48 and then we came straight back and on the third mile I got a 5:30 flat and then once we got back on the track I then did a 4:58 mile to finish everything off. I did let Ryan go a little bit on that last mile, Connor was at Weber for his visit, shoutout to him, but in my defense we were going over 30 seconds faster then we should have been. The original plan that Jamie gave us had us just going 10 seconds faster each mile so we would have done a 6:00 and then a 5:50 and then a 5:40 and then a 5:30. I'm glad we went faster though because it realluy felt good on my legs to be going faster and it feels good to be doing something harder again. It was actually pretty windy today and on the last mile we had a ton of wind against us on the front straight away(we ran the last mile backwards) so it's cool to know that I can run that fast at the end of a workout in the wind after a good break and not be dead afterwards. I think tomorrow will just be a recovery run, low mileage still I guess. Cooled down at like a 7:06 pace, then went in and did 20 minutes of abs. We might bump abs up a little, or increase our intensity in the 20 minutes soon... prolly both.
